JOB DESCRIPTION

Dubak Elektro Group DOO in Belgrade is seeking to hire a Senior Design Manager to join our global team.

​

The Senior Design Manager will manage the design team which includes BIM Specialists, Associate BIM Specialists, Mechanical Designers, and Electrical Designers. This individual would manage the day to day activities of design, maintain the department code of conduct, hours, design and detailing standards, expectations, quality control, inter-department communications, and partner with the Chicago Dubak Engineering team regarding various projects throughout the United States.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

  • Work with Vice President of Engineering in the United States to schedule project tasks to be completed by the design team

  • Manage the design team responsible for all BIM design projects, which include engineering models, drawings, and bill of materials

  • Oversee the use of BIM/Revit software firm-wide, including installing, configuring, maintaining, and supporting all BIM installations as well as analyzing and solving BIM user issues

  • Support each project team by (1) managing and creating content library files and templates, (2) creating and enforcing standards, and (3) evaluating project models

  • Support project start-up coordination, helping teams develop strategies for effective delivery of quality documents, and set-up each project, thereby ensuring that each one is set up correctly

  • Manage the implementation of supporting software and plug-ins for BIM

  • Evaluate new BIM related software and technologies

  • Stay informed on best practices for use of Revit, AutoCAD, and BIM

  • Stay informed on other BIM related software products and their interaction with Revit

  • Provide fundamental and intermediate training to Dubak staff on all BIM software, through a training program incorporating large groups, project team, and individualized training methods

  • Provide technical orientation/onboarding to new hires regarding BIM tools

  • Link BIM to the project construction phase for submittals, construction models, shop drawings, and schedules

  • Assist project teams in BIM project setup, project work modeling, and detailing

  • Assist/create Revit families in response to project requirements

  • Create and manage project schedules

  • Help resolve BIM design issues

  • Manage and distribute coordinated digital documents to the project team

  • Perform special assignments as requested

  • Complete performance evaluations; make hiring recommendations; recommend
    disciplinary actions; approve requests for Paid Time Off; prepare work schedules and allocate assignments; supervise the activities of assigned personnel; monitor reports and record keeping activities filed by assigned personnel for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to policy and procedure guidelines; instruct personnel in departmental policies, procedures, and techniques

  • Build a strong Belgrade team and be an advocate for your employees by being approachable and a good listener

  • Provide innovation to company improvement processes and the implementation of these processes

  • Safeguard confidential information regarding employees and the company

  • Collaborate frequently with the Vice President of Engineering, engineering team, and other departments as needed

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of engineering and design principles related to the construction industry

  • Possession of effective problem solving and analytical skills

  • Understanding of industry safety regulations including NFPA, OSHA, and IBC codes

  • Excellent communication needed, both oral and written, including technical writing skills

  • Ability to manage employees effectively 

  • Ability to deliver results on time to the highest standards

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously

  • Strong organization and documentation of work/projects skills

  • Driven and resilient attitude that is action and results oriented

  • Build strong relationships with people at all levels

  • Excellent employee and customer relations skills

  • Ability to work independently as well as lead a team 

  • Maintain professionalism at all times; includes appearance and conduct with words and actions

  • Must be able to cognitively perform all essential functions of the position 

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Software including Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook

  • Ability to create, proofread, and edit documents

  • Must have great attention to details

  • Create and facilitate a good work environment for your team


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's in Engineering, Architecture or a similar technical degree

  • Minimum of 10 years design experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of management/supervisory experience

  • Proficient user of AutoCAD and SolidWorks

  • Possesses qualities such as productivity, dependability, resourcefulness, efficiency, and professionalism

  • Ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision

  • Availability to work flexible hours 10:00 am-6:00 pm, or 11:00 am-7:00PM to overlap with US office hours
